An 11-year-old girl was seriously injured when she was hit by two cars in South Philadelphia. The young girl stepped out between two cars parked in a median and onto the road. Once on the road, she was hit by a minivan and another car. The car stopped, the minivan kept driving. The collision broke both of the young girl’s legs and caused serious injuries to her pelvis and head.
South Philadelphia sidewalks were busy when the girl was hit. Witnesses were appalled when the driver of the minivan did not stop. One witness declared: “I don’t know if the guy saw her … He just didn’t even slow down.”
Recovering From a Hit and Run Accident
Like the young girl here, victims of hit and run auto accidents can suffer serious injuries. In addition to the injuries, victims face even more problems because the driver of the car that hit them is unidentified, making it difficult to recover compensation for their injuries.
This does not mean, however, that recovery is impossible. When someone has been involved in a hit and run accident, they should follow the following steps:
- Get medical attention
- Call the police and request a report
- If possible, write down any details or information about the car, including color, make, license plate number, etc.
- If possible, get the names of any witnesses
- Contact an experienced hit and run accident attorney
An experienced car accident attorney can help you through the process, deal with the insurance companies and protect your rights.
